For some, that might mean booking a flight home for the holidays– for me, it means looking for new places to soak up a little  Christmas magic. Below are 8 destinations around the world that have their own, unique Christmas traditions– add them to your holiday travel lists asap!

Strasbourg France

Strasbourg, France

Strasbourg is known as the “Capital of Christmas” for a good reason. Christkindelsmärik, France’s oldest Christmas market, is straight out of a fairytale. There are over 300 chalets that line the snow covered cobblestone streets. Couple that with twinkling shop windows, wafts of gingerbread, cardamom, and cinnamon, and the 98ft Christmas tree at the Place Kléber, known for being the most decorated Christmas tree in Europe, and it’s truly a little slice of heaven on Earth.

Where to Stay in Mexico City During Your Visit (Updated 2022)

The skyline of Mexico City, Mexico and its towering skyscrapers and lush greenery
Posted: 11/28/2022 | November 28th, 2022

Mexico City used to be off the radar for many travelers because it was perceived as being dangerous. But things have changed in CDMX (short for Ciudad de México) and today it’s one of the most popular places to visit in the country.

I loved my time in Mexico City. It’s an incredible foodie destination, has a fun nightlife, lots of history, green space, and boasts lots of galleries and museums to explore. (The art and literature scene here is one of the best in the world.)

It’s also a huge, sprawling metropolis, so choosing the right neighborhood to stay in — one that aligns with your interests and travel style — is important. Traffic can be slow, so you don’t want to waste your visit stuck in transit — or risk your safety by staying in the wrong neighborhood.

To help you

Checking In to the Four Seasons Koh Samui

I first visited Thailand ten years ago and since then, I’ve told anyone who will listen that it is the best holiday destination for Australians. For starters, the location is ideal. Thailand can be reached directly from Sydney in just 8 hours, adding a few hours for connecting flights either side. Secondly (and in my opinion more importantly), the paradise available when you get there is oh so worth the travel time, regardless of your flight path. For this trip a decade later, I had my sights set on visiting Koh Samui. I had never yet visited the island, having previously opted for Phuket on two occasions. So for my return to travel after the pandemic, I decided now would be as good a time as any to splurge on flights to Koh Samui and stay at the Four Seasons Koh Samui.

Escaping to the Four Seasons Chiang Mai

For as long as I can remember I have had a love affair with Thailand. In fact, I can probably even pinpoint the moment it happened and the love affair began. I was nineteen years of age when I first visited Thailand. On that trip I travelled straight to Phuket, spending a few nights in Bangkok on the way home to Australia.

But since that trip, I’ve been desperate to seek out more of the country. In particular, I have wanted to visit Chiang Mai.

One of my closest friends Sophie wrote about her time in Chiang Mai here on World of Wanderlust some five or so years ago and it was her sheer enthusiasm for Northern Thailand alone that put this city on the map for me.

And so when I found myself with an invitation to Bangkok to visit and write about the newly opened Four Seasons Bangkok,
