San Antonio is the second-largest city in the state of Texas after Houston. The city is home to the San Antonio River Walk, the Alamo and they even have their own Six Flags. Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Fiesta Texas is an amusement park in San Antonio and has thrill rides, kid rides, family rides and a water park. The amusement park features daily shows, concerts, arcade games, food, contests and shopping. The water park has a wave pool shaped like Texas, tubes and slides, and entry is free with admission to Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
Six Flags offers season passes so you can pay one price and get in all year free. There are some rides with no height restriction, but most kid rides require a height of at least 36 inches.
SeaWorld San Antonio
SeaWorld San Antonio is home for many killer whales, dolphins, beluga whales and sea lions. Kids can go backstage and get up close and personal to sea lions, dolphins and killer whales on special tours.
SeaWorld has a water park that features a lazy river, wave pool, Lil’ Gator Lagoon, activity pool and many water rides. The park also has a few rides like the Journey to the Atlantis, Great White, Texas Splashdown, Shamu Express, Steel Eel and the Rio Loco.
Kiddie Park
Kiddie Park first opened in 1925, making it the oldest amusement park for children in the US. The park maintains 1920s rides that have been upgraded for a modern park, including a carousel with wooden horses dating back to 1918. Children can enjoy riding in miniature versions of a horse drawn carriage, a canal boat, an airplane and a school bus. There is also a mini version of a Ferris wheel.
Morgan’s Wonderland
Morgan’s Wonderland claims to be the first fun park that is wholly accessible in the world with facilities for people with special needs. The activities include a train ride round the lake. Visitors enjoy riding the carousel, exploring the sensory village and playing in the Treasure Island Playground.
Witte Museum
From T-Rex to Triceratops, kids love dinosaurs–and the Witte Museum has them. With scale models, fossils, dinosaur teeth and full-size footprints, kids will be awed by the Witte’s Dino Hall exhibit. Children will also enjoy the H-E-B Science Treehouse, a four-story “treehouse” featuring a play area just for kids, interactive exhibits, hands-on science experiments and a water play area.
Institute of Texan Cultures
The Institute of Texan Cultures offers a glimpse into the many cultural faces of the Lone Star State, with special exhibits and programs just for kids. The Bluebonnet Puppet Show is a live program featuring puppets and music. Each show has a unique message about Texas’s cultural history and diversity.
Shows include topics like Andy’s Secret Code, an exploration of cattle branding, and Magda’s Tortillas, the story of a young girl learning how to make her grandma’s tortillas. Other kid-friendly exhibits include San Antonio Virtual and Interactive Geometry, offering hands-on experiments and Texans One and All, featuring hundreds of stories about the state’s first residents.
HopScotch
Hopscotch is one of those places where you can get cool and unusual photos for your Instagram. If your kid is old enough to have a cell phone (aka tweens and teens) they will like this place.
